The song came to me the morning of my brother's funeral; Richard died in June 1991 after many years of illness. Losing him came when I had just begun returning to a spiritually aware, and more observant Judaism after years of being an activist, engaged in the many political changes that were happening. The song is an expression of learning how to accept the need to change inwardly in the midst of turmoil and new unknowns; the words a catalyst to recharge and renew my life.
