about

We wrote this song collaboratively as a part of the Boston Yetzirah songwriters collective, in response to a prompt of the last few lines of Psalm 92.

We see this song as connected to Elul because as we return every year to the work of tshuva we may feel discouraged that we can’t gain anything new from our same old patterns. This psalm reminds us that we can gain freshness, even in places that feel stuck and stale.

lyrics

Od yenuvun b'seivah deshinim vera'ananim yehiyu
They (righteousness) will continue to bring forth fruit as they age; they will be full of sap and aliveness

Like the fruit of the vine, ripening in its time
like the fruit of the vine, bringing sweetness of the divine

Psalm 92:15, additional English text by Noah Weinberg and Molly Bajgot
